Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park
Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park or IGWLS & NP is a well protected area located in Valparai, Pollachi, and Udumalpet Taluks of Coimbatore and Tirupur. The Sanctuary is named after our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi when she visited the park on 7 October 1961. - You can add to your sight-seeing list Karianshola, which lies adjacent to the Park. It is a tropical rain forest with tall sky high trees with a well developed canopy forest. This makes an ideal place for serious forest and animal lovers, a must place to visit.
- You cannot miss the MPCA or the Medicinal Plants Conservation Area where it holds and preserves some of the medicinal plants in the botanical gardens.
- Towards its west is the Kerala’s Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary which lies in a varied landscape with lots of surprises.
- Twenty five kilometers from Topslip lies the Elephant camp at Chinnar, the best place to watch elephants make their habitat. Swamp and teak plantations in the Seychalli valley are some interesting spots around the place. Tigers, Deer and Bison are a common sight in this region.
